After returning from Los Angeles in early 2015, I decided to pursue a change of career in web development and I haven't looked back. It took me a while to find programming in my life but from the first day I started teaching myself, I knew I loved it.
I decided to enrol in General Assembly's Web Development Immersive course and I've loved everything that I've come across in GA as I love being challenged with complex problems. I want to go forward in my career now and tackle even more as I try to become a better developer.
I have worked across multiple industries including medical services, hospitality and IT with a wide exposure to different business environment and client types. I love coding and technology and am very active in the Sydney community. I am looking to work with an employer where I can grow and learn while making meaningful contributions to a project.

GA Project 0 - This project is a completely front-end developed multiplayer game based on the popular table top game, Battleships. I really wanted to push the JavaScript we had learned in the first quarter of the course to my limits and this successfully allowed me to do that. This project uses firebase to handle the back-end functionality.
JavaScript, jQuery, FirebaseGA Project 1 - This project introduced us to using a Rails backend, postgreSQL and interacting with different web APIs. I utilised the Google Maps API to create an interactive website that maps the restaurants which are reviewed in a series of different food blogs.
JavaScript, jQuery, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Google Maps APIGA Project 2 - This project allowed us to work in teams using git and collaborate on a larger project. The goal with this project was to create a real-time drawing game using an HTML canvas and websockets. Although there were many of us across the project, everyone had significant exposure to all aspects of the design.
JavaScript, jQuery, Websockets, Backbone, Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQLGA Project 3 - The final project was a bit more open in terms of what we created. I found that Backbone.JS was a really useful framework but I didn't get the best grasp earlier in the course. I decided to make a simple to do list application with lots of nested views so I could reinforce the ideas primarily used in Backbone.
